The cabal descended down into the earth using a tower in Orenda’s domain. The tower was four miles tall. At about one mile down, there was a four or five inch wide crack in the wall. It looked out onto a black cave that was so wide and cavernous, the nothing else could be seen. There was flowing quintessence in the air, so thick that it was physically manifesting as motes of light. Using Mana Manipultion, Richard was able to determine that it was a nexus point of several ley lines from the surrounding Toronto area. There were a variety of resonances available as well. Using some magic, the Hermetics looked below and tactily determined there was a rather large planned city down below. Down another two miles, there were more windows that granted another view. At this point, the cabal took note of a creature of darkness and light that flew above the city. It was something ‘darker than darkness’ that would periodically become a bright geometric shape, before again becoming darkness. It flew much like a bird or other winged creature. Richard’s best guess was that it was some form of dragon. There was also a good view of the pyramid.
The Pyramid turned out to be made of copper. It was one perfect piece, not bricks piled together. The outer two thirds of the pyramid was solid copper, the inner third molten, with gaseous copper at the heart. While the cabal was talking about the pyramid, their reflections became crystal clear mirror copies. The copies then emerged from the pyramid and attacked the cabal. Nyx used the 0 Correspondence rating she had with her copy to eat her copy’s mind, absorbing it into her. Richard defeated his copy in a lighting fast exchange of sword blows and he beheaded it, gaining quickening from the kill. Nigan weathered the attacks of his copy and then misfortune sent it tumbling back into the pyramid. Sabine dueled with her otherself, wounding it and then shield bashing it into the pyramid. Phoebus managed to knife his and gave it a lethal stab. Nigan stabilized the copy, and then Phoebus body slammed it into the pyramid. After slaying their copies, Nyx and Richard have no reflection in the pyramid. The other three still do.
Speaking to the spirit of the Earth, the cabal asked for advice. It told the cabal that the city simply appeared at some point rather than being built. Using continental drift to provide a time frame, the Earth said that the city appeared roughly after the last ice age. The array of creatures that appeared came before the city did. When the city appeared, it brought with it no soil, but it did bring roads. The city is very similar to another city that was in Mesopotamia at the start of the last ice age. That city was destroyed by the Children or Astarte and their allies, who used weapons and storms. The Earth also pointed out that the reliquary of Ibliss was located at one of the corners of the pyramid, beneath it. It also told the Cabal that the Immortals were Children of Astarte. There were other people who weren’t Children of Astarte, but were Astarte’s children, such as vampires, werewolves, and mages.
Nyx was able to remember from her education that the pyramid was associated with Astarte, Ishtar, and several other goddesses such as Venus and Aphrodite. Nigan put his Correspondence and Entropy to work drawing connections. The pyramid was very strongly connected to Astarte and Ishtar, and in this case Astarte and Ishtar were two names for the same being. The pyramid was only tangentially related to Ibliss. Astarte was definitely not trapped inside the pyramid. Through her past lives, Sabine recalled that the city itself was designed to be a summoning aid for the Unnamed, and she believed that she was summoning the Unnamed deliberately there because the location was near an anomaly. The anomaly was a place where the Lords of Outer Darkness were able to reach inside, so Sabine was either expecting or believed they would help her kill the Unnamed. The pyramid now exists where this anomaly is. Some more of Nigan’s magic indicated that the city was brought to it’s current location because it was intrinsically tied to the anomaly, so appeared here because the anomaly did. The Earth was able to confirm that there was indeed a very similar city at the spot Sabine remembered building her city in Mesopotamia, however that city did not vanish from Mesopotamia. The one in Mesopotamia was the one destroyed by the Children of Astarte.
Moving over to the reliquary of Ibliss, the cabal decided to plug up the entrance to thwart the influence of Ibliss. Nigan performed a high ritual to ward the Reliquary and deny Ibliss the ability to reach out and influence the world. He called on the spirits of the women slain by the recent Nephandi and bound the ward to them, so they would be the ones holding Ibliss in and providing them some protection against Ibliss’ continued torture of them.
